Imbecile's Two Cents On Lanterns

Heyy!! Do you remember when we all came to know about lanterns cause of Tangled from Disney?
It was crazy! We all went mad over it.
Didn't we?
I remember how we got so obsessed with it
I don't have such festival here in my town at all so I never ever saw such things in real life. I went to this small event near my house where me and my friends saw lanterns being sold. We bought two for a huge price—uncommon things are always expensive here. and then finally it was time to fly them off, we had no idea how to do it and the first one fell on us. Nobody got hurt, of course, but it fell too quick and went to waste. I was upset because I bought it from my own pocket money.
We ignored our disappointment and told ourselves that we don't give up so quick! and we tried the second one. We were more patient this time and guess what it actually flew!

Well....I mean it fell down on an empty plot two houses away from us but hey! It flew! We were pleased with just that.
And then came the internet. Through it, we came to know that it actually is a festival in real life! Before that I thought it was just a thing from Tangled. We came to know about the Turkey one. I remember a few kids around me wanted to go to Turkey just for this festival. Silly huh? But well we were just kids so whatever. No doubt though, it was mesmerizing to see it just on screen too.

Then I recently came to know about Northeast India. They have this lantern festival too. They have a dragon in their history and given that dragons are cool, a lot of their stuff become cool right away!

Okay so while writing this blog, I searched a bit too. Thailand has it too. They have plain simple lanterns. They are the kind that I bought.

I am about to check China's now. You guys are gonna get my review on this blog!

Daym!! They are so beautiful! China wins!! China always wins for me though. I have a soft corner for China and Korea nowadays.

And from what I am gathering from pictures, those classy beautiful things China has are not supposed to be flown away. But they are hanged, ceilings and walls are made out of them like this:

And to fly away, Chinese use that simply light ones like Thailand too. They just add a bit of writing on it and sometimes a pattern maybe. I remember in 'one piece' anime, they wrote their wishes on lanterns before letting it out in the sky. Maybe China has something like that too. It’s pretty, nevertheless… as long as no one’s writing a wish for my downfall!

Tangled from Disney did a lot of work in promoting it somewhat. I mean it was an accidental promotion as their intention was to just make a very beautiful scene but it still worked as promotion.

Now the question is what happens to these lanterns. They are light, very light. So they can be rolled into a small place but there are just so many. If it goes into the river, who cleans it?

Is it really worth it? I mean it happens rarely but still. The crazy amount of lanterns becomes pollution.

I am not the kind to say that let's save ice-bergs for future. but I do think of the problems at hand. Thus so much of garbage in one place at the same time. It would look breath-taking for a few minutes. Let's extend it and say hours though it's not possible for them to go for hours. But in the end, can you imagine the garbage? How much of it would lie a waste? It would really be a nightmare for the people who has to clean it.

And don't get me started over what would happen if they fall onto something that is flammable! It can cause serious damage! I mean it did fall on us too when we tried to lit it. If my hairs caught fire, I could have become bald and for what!? Just wanting to see a lantern. I love my hairs too much to let that happen!

Anyway

It does look beautiful, no doubt. but I say one shouldn't do it like an event, meaning not so many at once you know? A few shall be fine. If something bad happens, easy to handle and everyone can have fun too.

But maybe I am wrong. Rich countries do it. Maybe people clean it quickly themselves. I don't know.

But yes, very very beautiful. All being said, we would still go to this event! It's so much garbage, why do you wanna go to such event then? Well because I am imbecile, duh!

Okay, bye bye!
