Mismanifesting - Story Time! (Part 1)

Billy was a good teenager that had good grades and listened to his parents and teachers but..... he got obsessed with horror and like every normal teenager, he started to watch horror movies and scary series all the time.

He thought what could go wrong? So he continued being obsessed over it so much that soon everything he owned showed his obsession. His mobile cover and wallpaper had a scary ghost, his t-shirts often had such gory pictures printed on it that people around him requested that he stops wearing them but he couldn't stop.

Then suddenly things started to change. He didn't use to be scared of these things but suddenly he was. He saw a movie, in which he saw ghost sitting on top of the fridge then everywhere he went, he couldn't help but double check the top of the fridge, wardrobes and shelves. It became a habit.

He saw a movie where he saw a kid ghost sitting on the stairs staring at the camera. Now every time, he saw stairs in the dark, he would pull out his phone and use his flashlight to check if someone is there.

Another movie, he saw a ghost flying near the window and then attacking the people. From then on, his room’s curtain remained drawn.

One other movie that showed ghosts coming out of the television and suddenly he couldn't stand the big beautiful LCD his parents got for him. He ended up putting it down facing towards the wall, hoping that the ghost wouldn't be able to come out now.

You may think one would stop watching movies at this point but he was obsessed, he still wanted to watch more!

In the next movie, he saw that a person washed his face and when he cleaned it off and looked in the mirror, there was a ghost standing there who gave him a scary crooked smile. After that, every time he washed his face, he felt someone behind him, like a hand was on his back. He would jump and look back with suds going in his eyes, just to find no one there. After that, he couldn't clean his face with his eyes closed so he kept them open and got himself a baby wash so it wouldn't hurt his eyes no more.

But it stopped helping when he saw a movie in which he saw people washing their hands and faces to the point they would get injured and eventually end up hurting themselves to the point they were sent to the mental hospital. After watching that, he got so scared that he stopped cleaning himself completely. He was scared to being left in a mental hospital forever.

At that point, his life was changing drastically because of his obsession so, he decided to stop finally. He stopped watching movies. He didn't get any new fear but I wonder..... if his obsession made changes in a way that even if doesn't want it to come back, it would find it's way crawling back to him?

One day, he was sitting with his friends, covered in several fragrances to hide the stench coming from him, looked very pale because of curtains being drawn always in his room and huge dark circles from lack of sleep because of his fears. They all were talking about a latest game that just came out but he had nothing to talk about it since his LCD was still laying at one side of his room facing the wall while the game his mother bought for him remained in the corner of the room untouched.

Once his friends were done talking about the game, they showed him a video of the new horror movie. He tried to watch it but before anything scary could happen, he jumped up made an excuse that his mother told him to come home early today to help her bake the cookies meanwhile she wasn't even in the town.

He dodged a bullet and escaped from getting another fear..... for now.

That night he sat in his bed, still feeling his fear enveloping him. He decided to check his social media to get his mind off of his fears. He watched few funny posts, his friends new achievements in their lives, he smiled as he saw those, feeling proud of his friends.

Then came a video, it showed how a man had his back hunched, weight machine showing double the weight than it actually should have been and his back constantly hurting. Billy got so curious about why it was happening like this and then the man in the video took picture of him, the picture showed a ghost sitting on his shoulder. Billy jumped and threw his mobile across the room.

But ever since then, it felt as though something unseen clung to his shoulders, dragging him down until his spine curved beneath the weight of an unknown entity.....

To be continued.....

  1. Loved it..
This is genuinely unsettling in a psychological way,
    not normal horror story..
D slow buildup works really well
And each movie leaves a scar
and you show how fear spreads from screens into daily habits.

The mirror, stairs, and TV moments are especially strong because they are relatable and visual.

Over all.. I loved it boss
